This month, alongside Prof. Judith Auerbach and Dr. Mumbi Chola, I helped launch the Kigali Call to Action—a global push to re-center solidarity, equity, and ownership in the HIV response.
Why now? Because progress is stalling. Political will is fading. And too many communities are still being left behind.
We’re mobilizing 1,000 signatures ahead of the IAS 2025 Conference in Kigali to send a clear message: the fight to end AIDS is far from over—and we need to act like it.
The Call outlines five urgent priorities:
Respectful, equitable partnerships
Sustained investment in HIV research
Scaled access to HIV prevention
Protection of human rights
Science- and community-driven policy
Already, over 350 people have endorsed it—names like Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Dr. Chris Beyrer, Dr. John Nkengasong, Anne Aslett, Prof. Glenda Gray, former First Lady Kim Simplis Barrow, Dr. Michel Kazatchkine, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Prof. Kenneth Ngure, Dr. Tom Frieden, and Dr. Rochelle Walensky.
If you believe in justice, inclusion, and the power of global solidarity—this is your invitation to join us. Read the Call. Sign it. Share it.
Thank you!
